LOVE THAT NEVER WITHOLDS

Now that we are past the day we set aside for love, let us move on to the REAL love that holds us and gives us “staying” power. God is Love and it is made for us to receive. It is the glue that holds all of us and all things together. Apart from His love, we are nothing and can do nothing. Everything is manipulative without the unconditional love running our systems. Our human mind is incapable of giving love to others that hurt and wound us. We get so upset and need revenge in our human behavior. If you think you are not wired this way, think again!

Most people have little idea how much influence God’s love still has due to the Laws of the Universe. He gives love in the form of all the things that sustain us: breath, food, water, etc. I heard a great joke told between a scientific non-believer and God:

“Listen God, we’ve decided we don’t need you anymore. These days we can clone people, transplant organs and do all sorts of things that used to be considered miraculous.”

God replied, “Don’t need me huh? How about we put your theory to the test. Why don’t we have a competition to see who can make a human being, say, a male human being.”

The scientist agrees, so God declares they should do it like he did in the good old days when he created Adam.

“Fine” says the scientist as he bends down to scoop up a handful of dirt.”

“Whoa!” says God, shaking his head in disapproval. “Not so fast. You get your own dirt.”

I share this to illustrate how we are really dependent on God for everything, even the ability to be intimate. We have no idea how much influence God has by giving his love to us. There will never be a time when you do not need God. You need what He has because He created it ALL. Until you are in an intimate relationship with Him, however, you will take the basics He gives for granted and complain about the abundance you do not have. Check your IQ-intimacy quotient.

Intimacy with God is like Intimacy with another person only God heals the lack of ability to see the truth of LOVE. An intimate relationship does contain knowledge ABOUT, but it is also an interdependence where there is mutual trust and commitment. Can you trust God? Can He trust you? Those are important questions. WE have to KNOW each other and talk about an “us” as in ME and MY relationship with God and His with me. WE have an understanding that we treat each other well and fairly, warmly and honorably. Just as in human relationships, there is a time commitment. WE hang out together! Do you see God like that?

Spend time considering how you feel about the most important loving relationship you have-the one with your true self and God!
