Coming Alive to the Seeds of Spiritual Fruit

It is the beginning of March already! Can Spring be far away with longer days of light ahead? Spring and “springtime” refer to the season, but also to the ideas of rebirth, renewal, rejuvenation, revitalization, resurrection and new growth or regrowth. I love the season of Spring because of the newness of nature. The air feels clean and fresh and the flowers pop their little heads above ground. It seems like everyone is ready for newness.

When I think of Spiritual Intimacy, I think Spring because there are so many analogies that can be made. There is no intimacy with God and the Holy Spirit apart from new growth. The deadness of our dark human hearts and minds have to be replanted and growth with the New Seed offered through Christ and His Resurrection. He died and arose from that death so we could see God’s Loving plan for all of us. We have to die to the old ways of the body (flesh) and be replanted with our spirits. If our spirits remain separated or feel like they are apart FROM God, there is no intimacy to connect to God so He can show us His real loving ways.

How does this new growth happen so that we can awaken from this grounding with our earth bodies? That is a process that does require sowing and reaping. We have Christ seed in us but it remains dormant in our human training (grounding) until we begin water the Spiritual Seed of Christ. WE can do that through many practices such as reading, seeking, meditating, praying, relating in ways that invoke a Presence to connect us to the Spiritual realm. God is always waiting for us to desire to spend time with His Presence in us. So, it is not that He is not Present, it is that we ignore that Presence or that we remain ignorant of it by our lack of interest.

When we do seek to KNOW God, He definitely will awaken us from our sleepy darkness. When we are thirsty to drink deeply from the well that Jesus talked about, we feel that connection. It is not necessarily anything you can see or hear at first, but you sense a new awareness, like Spring in the air in March. You can’t see it but you can feel a difference and you get a good feeling with that Spring air. Just like gardening, you sow more seeds into the Spiritual grounding and you keep watering those seeds with your Spiritual practices. Intimacy grows the more you see into Who God is through the revelations of the Holy Spirit and the more you see who you are in your true spirit. You begin new growth!

Remaining awake to the New Planting you are in Christ gives you a whole new perception on life. It is actually a whole new life. This is what it means to be born again. YOU are like those fruit trees that begin to grow new leaves and blossom out with the warmer weather. God warms us with His Love and we flourish and blossom in new ways that bear Spiritual Fruit. That means that we become like Jesus. We develop character qualities like His as we spend time with Him and get to know Him because His thoughts become our thoughts followed by His Purpose for us becoming our purpose. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are the character traits of Jesus that come from His Spirit alive in you-love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These fruits grow and grow and it the best way to KNOW if you are growing in Christ! You cannot manufacture these fruits. They come as a growth from your new life in Christ with spiritual intimacy in Him.
